Resident Care Manager

Permanent Full Time

As a rapidly growing DAL (Designated Assisted Living) operator in Edmonton, we have full-time opportunities for additional day & evening shift Resident Care Managers (RCM’s).

Under the direction of the Director of Care, the RCM leads, supports & mentors the Care Team in day-to-day operations; organizes & manages NP & Physician Clinics; liaises with other disciplines; works directly with Residents & families for concern resolution.

The HCA is responsible for ensuring the general wellbeing of residents though the delivery of high-quality services in a manner that is consistent with the policies, procedures, and philosophies of Innovative Housing Society. The HCA will provide basic assessment and treatments, personal care, medication administration, and delegated health services to the residents, as well as providing support and direction to the Care Services Team. The HCA will at all times demonstrate support of IHS’ policies and procedures, and conduct themselves in a professional manner in all situations.

Qualifications:

  • Recognized HCA certificate
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in the English language
  • Valid C.P.R and first aid certificate (must be obtained within one month of employment)
  • Clear criminal record security clearance with Vulnerable Sector included (no more than 6 months old)
  • Must be physically fit to perform lifting and transferring and able to be on your feet for long periods of time
  • Appropriately dressed – nurses uniform
  • Must be able to work independently or as a part of the interdisciplinary team

Recreation Therapist

Permanent Full Time

We are currently looking to add a Recreation Therapist to Our Team, working under the supervision and direction of the Director of Recreation. The Recreation Therapist will be responsible to: Develop, execute, and maintain all programs within a Recreation Department geared to a wide range of residents including; seniors, young disabled and those requiring mental health support.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Involved in the assessment, treatment, education and management of Residents in accordance with professional standards.
  • Will coach and mentor Team Members about Therapeutic Recreation and program implementation.
  • Develops and implements individual and group therapeutic programs based on Resident needs and identified outcomes.
  • Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates therapeutic programs and events for the building.
  • Maintains records and documentation of all recreation services.
  • Recruits, interviews, orientates, supervises and evaluates Volunteers to assist in recreation programs.
  • Ensures that supplies needed for recreation programs are identified, purchased and maintained.
  • Keeps recreation program area and equipment free of infection and physical hazards.
  • Liaises with other members of the Management Team and communicates with Team Members to ensure coordinated efforts.
  • Maintains knowledge of developments in recreation and mental health through literature review, educational programs, and involvement in professional groups.
  • Attend meetings as required.

The ideal candidate:

  • Two-year Diploma in Therapeutic Recreation with 2 years post-qualifying work experience is preferred.
  • Two years experience working with Mental Health clients is preferred.
  • Must hold a membership with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).
  • Management / supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Has ability to show initiative and work independently.
  • Demonstrates excellent attendance, reliability and personal suitability, confirmed through employment references.
  • Has the ability to initiate, adapt and be flexible within the work environment.
  • Must provide a Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector no more than 6 months old.


Food Service Attendant

Permanent Full Time

Involves working in cafeteria, serving food to, and assisting Residents with serving food; washing dishes, cleaning dish room, and washing floor. Assists with pot washing / kitchen cleaning duties, and replenishing cafeteria line supplies. The Food Services environment can be fast-paced during meal hours. Work consistently for periods of four hours continuously.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in the English language
  • Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and general safety
  • Strong organizational skills as well as the ability to stay focused
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, keeping track of what is required and at what time
  • Reliable with attendance, working all scheduled shifts in their entirety
  • Must be able to work independently or as a part of the interdisciplinary team
  • Clear Criminal Record Check (no more than 6 months old)

Cook

Full Time

Competition # WC08112011

The main role of the Cook is to prepare meals for Residents within IHS facilities. The Cook is responsible for following safe cooking practices and to take direction from the Director of Food Services. A variety of culinary tasks will be required as well as standard cleaning tasks. The Cook may also be required to assist in food ordering, shipment receiving and storage.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in similar position.
  • Journeyman’s Cook Certificate (Red Seal)
  • Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in the English language
  • Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and general safety
  • Strong organizational skills as well as the ability to stay focused
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, keeping track of what is required and at what time
  • Reliable with attendance, working all scheduled shifts in their entirety
  • Must be able to work independently or as a part of the interdisciplinary team
  • Clear Criminal Record Check (no more than 6 months old)
